I need an extension!!! Living Room Curtains

I needed an extension for my drapes and an extension ladder to hang them!
In the Living room the ceiling in 12 feet high and finding a ready made drape 12 feet long is next to impossible, even at Ikea!
So I thought I would make some of my own. The only problem is . . . . I'm a terrible sewer!
But it had to be done, so I put on my big girl pants, measured twice and started sewing

Here's how It all went down:
  • First I found a contrasting fabric that compliments my scheme. I happened to find some shower curtains on clearance.
  • I bought grommets. Because these drapes need to function, I always find that grommets work the best! They are really easy to install, the package should come with a template to tell you how big to cut the holes. Then measure so they are evenly spaced and fasten the grommets on :)

  • Hung the curtain rod.

  • Then I sewed on the Shower Curtain!

And while I was doing all of the Curtains sewing I snuck in a couple of pillows too! Max slept his way into the photo!

Christmas Mantel Unveiling tomorrow!! All I can say is, it's super simple!

  1. The curtains and pillows are beautiful! You did a great job! I love that paisley fabric! Would you mind sharing what paint color your walls are? They are exactly what I am looking for in our bedroom.

  2. That is a dang good job for someone who does not sew much!

I kinda like it when we are forced to do something because the original idea is not doable..it always makes things way better, and original.

  7. Looks great! I also love the paisley - it's my current decorating obsession. :) I made pillows for my couch from a paisley fabric and also bought a paisley shower curtain for my hall bathroom. I didn't realize the theme until after I bought the items! My hubby doesn't get it - he thinks paisley is old-fashioned. :)

  12. Well for a terrible sewer you did a mighty fine job of both the curtains and pillows. I bet you saved lots by sewing these yourself.
Poor Max is exhausted from watching you being industrious!

  14. Ok, you can't be nearly as bad at sewing as you think! The curtains look great- not to mention the pillows which is quite a bit more complicated!

  16. Thanks!!!!! I measured a lot, then got Lee to re-measure then cut, then measured, then sewed!!!
I think the reason I'm no good at sewing is my lackadaisical use of measuring :) it seems when I measure It turns out okay!
And the pillows were super easy I'll have a tutorial up next week! Thanks again!!!
    Lots of Love and thanks

  17. I love it. :) I think you made the right choice by having loooong white curtains with the patterned accent at the end. A full length pattern might have been overwhelming.
I can't wait to learn how to sew, whee!
